Section 01

About Health Hub

What Health Hub is, what it does, and where it operates.

What is Health Hub?
Health Hub is an Africa-first healthcare platform that combines a Healthcare Assistant, teleconsultation with licensed African doctors, prescription and diagnostic services, and a hybrid AI + human coordinator pathway that connects African patients to specialist hospitals in India when local care is insufficient. Available in English, Swahili, French, and Amharic.
Which countries does Health Hub operate in?
Health Hub operates in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and India. Patient data is region-split: African patient records are stored in af-south-1 (Cape Town) and Indian patient records in ap-south-1 (Mumbai). Cross-border data movement requires explicit patient consent.
Is Health Hub free?
Registration, Healthcare Assistant intake, and your health record are free. You pay per consultation (set by each doctor, typically KES 500 to 3,000 or equivalent), per prescription dispensed by partner pharmacies, and per diagnostic order. India-referral coordination is bundled with the hospital quote.
Is Health Hub a medical-tourism agency?
No. Health Hub is a clinical platform that begins with a structured intake by your African doctor and only refers to India when clinically necessary. Medical-tourism agencies typically begin with a quote request; Health Hub begins with your clinical file. Patients keep one continuous health record from first symptom to follow-up.
Section 02

The Healthcare Assistant

How the Healthcare Assistant intake works, what it does and does not do.

What is the Healthcare Assistant?
The Healthcare Assistant is a conversational intake system that every Health Hub patient completes before reaching a doctor. It captures four modules (chief complaint, duration and severity, medical history, and optional vitals) and produces a structured brief for the receiving doctor with urgency score, ICD-10 candidates, and red-flag check results.
Does the Healthcare Assistant diagnose me?
No. The Healthcare Assistant classifies, scores urgency, and summarises. It never makes a diagnosis. Diagnosis is the responsibility of the licensed doctor who consults you. The AI is a structured intake tool, not a decision-maker.
Is the Healthcare Assistant safe?
Clinical safety functions are deterministic, not LLM-based. Red-flag detection is a rule-based engine written by clinicians and version-controlled in the codebase. The allergy gate is rule-based. The language model is only used for conversation and summarisation; it is never used to make a clinical safety decision.
How long does the Healthcare Assistant intake take?
About 4 minutes on average. State is saved to the cloud after every answer, so if you drop signal mid-intake on USSD or mobile, you resume from the exact same question with no lost data.
What languages does the Healthcare Assistant support?
English at launch (Phase 1), with Swahili, French, and Amharic available in Phase 3. USSD screens are limited to 182 characters per the GSM specification, so each language is translated for that constraint, not machine-translated at runtime.
Section 03

Africa to India referrals

How the India pathway works, who pays, and what's included.

How does the Africa-to-India referral work?
When your African doctor decides your condition requires specialist or surgical care that isn't available locally, they trigger a referral. The AI prepares a structured case package within minutes. A named human coordinator calls you within 4 hours, walks you through three matched hospitals, and once you consent, books flights, hotel, and your OPD slot. The same coordinator manages your full journey through to follow-up.
How much does Indian specialist care cost?
Specialist and surgical care in India typically costs about one-tenth of equivalent treatment in Europe or the United States. Exact pricing depends on the procedure and hospital. Health Hub provides pre-quotes from three matched hospitals before you commit; there are no surprise charges from the platform itself.
Which Indian hospitals do you partner with?
Health Hub partners with JCI- or NABH-accredited hospitals across Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi NCR, and Mumbai. Partner names are disclosed at the point of referral and you choose from three matched options. Patients are never funnelled to a single hospital.
What is the 4-hour SLA?
Once an Indian referral is triggered, a human coordinator is required to contact the patient by phone within 4 hours. A countdown timer is visible to coordinators. At T-1h a push notification escalates; at T+0 the case escalates to Admin-HQ and a second coordinator takes over. SLA breaches are treated as P1 incidents.
Do you book flights and hotels?
Yes. Once you consent to the referral, your coordinator books your flight (via Amadeus partners), your hotel near the receiving hospital, and ground transport if needed, all from one screen. You receive a single itinerary PDF and can pay via M-Pesa, MoMo, card, or bank transfer.

Accessing Health Hub

Channels, devices, languages, and what works without internet.

Can I use Health Hub without a smartphone?
Yes. Health Hub is available via USSD *280# on any GSM phone with no internet required. The same Healthcare Assistant runs across web, mobile app, WhatsApp, voice (Phase 3), and USSD. State is preserved across channels, so you can start on USSD and continue on the web later.
What is USSD *280#?
USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a protocol that works on any GSM phone, including feature phones with no internet. Dial *280# and you reach the Health Hub menu over a session-based interaction. Each screen is limited to 182 characters; state is saved to our servers between screens.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes. Health Hub has native iOS and Android apps in addition to the web platform. All channels share the same underlying patient record, Healthcare Assistant, and doctor network. Use whichever channel suits the moment.
Can I use Health Hub on WhatsApp?
Yes. The Health Hub WhatsApp number runs the same Healthcare Assistant intake as the app, with state preserved between messages. After intake, your doctor consult happens via video, audio, or chat in the app or web. WhatsApp is an entry channel, not the consultation surface itself.
Section 05

Security and privacy

How clinical data is stored, encrypted, and audited.

Where is my data stored?
Region-split. African patient data is stored in AWS af-south-1 (Cape Town). Indian patient data is stored in AWS ap-south-1 (Mumbai). Each JWT carries a region claim that gates every database call, so cross-region access is rejected at the application layer.
Is Health Hub HIPAA compliant?
Health Hub is HIPAA-aligned and a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available for US enterprise customers. We are also compliant with the India DPDP Act 2023, Kenya Data Protection Act, Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, and Ethiopia's Personal Data Protection Proclamation.
Will my data be used to train AI?
No. Patient transcripts and clinical records are not used for AI model training without explicit per-encounter opt-in consent. Patient and doctor content behind authentication is not made available to third-party AI crawlers either.
Can a doctor edit my record after the consultation?
No. Once a clinical record is locked, it cannot be edited. Addenda are new, signed entries that preserve the original. Every access to a patient clinical record is logged in an append-only audit table.
Section 06

For doctors and partners

Joining the network as a clinician, pharmacy, lab, or travel partner.

How do I apply to practise on Health Hub as a doctor?
Apply via the For Doctors page. You'll need a valid medical licence (NMC/NMR for India or country medical council for Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia), MBBS or equivalent, minimum 2 years of clinical practice, and language proficiency in at least one supported language. We verify every application within 5 business days.
How are doctors paid?
Doctors set their own consultation fee per session. Payouts settle within 48 hours via M-Pesa (Kenya), MTN MoMo (Uganda, where available), bank transfer (Ethiopia), or UPI/bank (India). Health Hub takes a transparent platform fee, published in your doctor portal at sign-up.
Can my pharmacy join Health Hub?
Yes. Apply via the For Partners page with your business registration, drug licence, and tax ID. We verify within 5 business days. Once live, prescription orders route to your queue in real time via our SQS-backed routing. There is no marketplace bidding and no commission scramble. Settlement is weekly.
